Sergeant - United States Army Air Corps

Jesse Black
Sgt Black was killed in a plane crash in England. He was 24 years old and had been overseas only a month. He was in the service for almost four years, having first been in the Quartermaster Corps of the Army, later transferring to the Air Corps.

PARENTS: Roswell C. Black, 28 West Ferguson Avenue, Wood River

He graduated from high school in Springfield, IL, and came to live with his father in Wood River in 1937.

Sgt Black is buried in Cambridge American Cemetery in England.
